History

In 1903 Traben-Trabach represented the second largest wine trading centre in Europe. Richard Feist built the legendary Hotel ‘Clauss-Feist‘ designed by famous Art Nouveau architect from Berlin, Professor Bruno Möhring. Over the following decades the house became the number one address on the Moselle, frequented by famous comtemporaries of the early 20th century, such as Baron Richthofen, Count Anhalt, Lord Thyssen and the renowned German actor, Heinz Rühmann.

The hotel survived two World Wars and the overenthusiastic renovation which took place during the post-war periods with no damage – a little like the Sleeping Beauty!

Your host, Matthias Ganter, has been managing the superior Four Star Hotel personally since 1992.
